Exclamation Mark Formed In Space by Two Colliding Galaxies

Imej yang mengagumkan yang telah dikeluarkan oleh NASA menunjukkan dua galaksi berlanggar menyerupai tanda seru ungu besar.

Bentuk angkasa sebahagiannya ditangkap oleh Teleskop Hubble yang terkenal dan yang sedang terjadi 450 juta tahun cahaya dari Bumi dalam buruj yang Bootes.

Menurut NASA, pasangan yang kaya dengan gas-galaksi spiral yang dikenali ber-sama sebagai Arp 302 pada peringkat awal interaksi.

Ujung-ke galaksi berhampiran bahagian atas imej dipanggil VV 340 Utara dan galaksi muka di bahagian bawah imej VV 340 Selatan.

Dalam interaksi mereka, sangat banyak cahaya inframerah dipancarkan oleh gas dari bintang besar-besaran yang terbentuk pada kadar yang sama dengan bintang-membentuk rantau gergasi yang paling bersungguh-sungguh pada jalan Sakti kita sendiri.

Berjuta-juta tahun kemudian kedua-dua pilin ini akan bergabung - seperti Bima Sakti dan Andromeda dijangka untuk melakukan berbilion-bilion tahun dari sekarang.

Galaksi bergabung menjana tenaga pada kadar yang berpuluh-puluh beratus-ratus kali ganda lebih besar daripada yang dipancarkan oleh galaksi yang biasa.

Pernah mahu untuk melihat apa yang permukaan Marikh kelihatan seperti ini? Sekarang kamu seperti NASA mengeluarkan sesetengah imej warna yang sangat jelas kawah yang tidak pernah sebelum diterokai pada permukaan planet berbatu.

Mars Exploration Rover Peluang tiba di pinggir barat kawah Endeavour pada hari Rabu selepas perjalanan 13 kilometer yang mengambil masa tiga tahun.

Para saintis telah berkata bahawa kawah 14 km diameter dan lebih daripada 25 kali lebih luas daripada apa-apa jua yang bahawa robot golf-kereta bersaiz sebelum ini telah diterokai sejak ia mendarat di Marikh pada tahun 2004.

Menurut NASA, kawah Endeavour menawarkan akses kepada deposit yang lebih tua geologi daripada Peluang apa-apa telah dilihat sebelum ini, dan penyelidikan itu boleh menjadi petunjuk sama ada pernah syarat-syarat yang didiami di planet.

Ini adalah pandangan sebenar bahagian kawah dan kelihatan seperti padang pasir yang kering di Bumi.

Video Released Of Riot Cops Being Run Over

Rakaman CCTV dramatik dua orang pegawai polis yang dilanggar oleh sebuah kereta kerana mereka mengejar looters semasa rusuhan minggu lalu telah dibebaskan.

Pasangan dilanda Citroen hijau yang bergerak pada kelajuan tinggi di Waltham Forest, utara timur London - dan satu terpegun begitu keras bahawa perisai badannya datang.

Detektif penyiasat cubaan membunuh anggota polis berkata, rakaman itu telah dile-paskan untuk menggalakkan orang ramai untuk tampil ke hadapan dan mengenal pasti mereka yang bertanggungjawab.

Para pegawai telah dipukul kerana mereka bertindak balas kepada laporan kumpulan rompakan sebuah kedai pakaian pada kira-kira 1:00 pada 8 Ogos.

Salah seorang anggota polis mengalami kecederaan lutut dan kaki dan lain-lain kece-deraan bahu.

Mereka berdua dibawa ke hospital dan pulih di rumah sementara menunggu pakar untuk rawatan lanjut.

Polis berkata, Citroen adalah didorong di konstabel di Royston Avenue kerana mereka cuba untuk berurusan dengan laporan rompakan di kedai pakaian Khedive pada Ching-ford Gunung Road.

Selepas kejadian itu, kereta dengan nombor pendaftaran Y132 GHJ - bertukar tepat ke Gunung Chingford Road dan kanan sekali lagi ke Jalan Baru sebelum ia hilang.

Polis berkata, bilangan yang tidak diketahui penghuni masih belum dikenal pasti dan pegawai-pegawai cuba untuk mengesan mereka.

Detektif Inspektor Cliff Haines berkata: "Kami merawat pembunuhan ini sebagai cuba.

"Individu-individu ini jelas tidak mengambil kira keselamatan pegawai-pegawai atau orang lain dalam laluan mereka.

"Berdasarkan rakaman dan kelajuan di mana kereta ini dipandu, saya hanya boleh men-gandaikan bahawa niat mereka ialah untuk menyebabkan kemudaratan dan kecederaan.

"Ia hanya nasib semata-mata pegawai-pegawai tidak mengalami kecederaan yang lebih serius."

Beliau menggesa sesiapa yang mempunyai apa-apa maklumat yang boleh mengenal pasti orang-orang di dalam kereta untuk menghubungi Withern Operasi kejadian bilik 020 8345 4142 atau Crimestoppers tanpa nama pada 0800 555 111.

Rider Skuter diserang oleh Rioters London

Kejadian tersebut berlaku semasa gangguan pada 8 Ogos, malam di mana rioters menyebabkan kerosakan menyeluruh ke kawasan tersebut, termasuk api setting ke kedai perabot.

Exclamation mark formed in space by two colliding galaxies

An awesome image that has been released by Nasa shows two galaxies colliding to resemble an enormous purple exclamation mark.

The celestial shape was partly captured by the famous Hubble Telescope and is currently happening 450 million light years from Earth in the constellation of Bootes.

According to NASA, the pair of gas-rich spiral galaxies known together as Arp 302 are in the early stages of interaction.

The edge-on galaxy near the top of the image is called VV 340 North and the face-on galaxy at the bottom of the image is VV 340 South.

During their interaction, an enormous amount of infrared light is radiated by the gas from massive stars that are forming at a rate similar to the most vigorous giant star-forming regions in our own Milky Way.

Millions of years later the two spirals will merge - much like the Milky Way and Andro-meda are expected to do billions of years from now.

The merging galaxies generate energy at a rate that is tens to hundreds of times larger than that emitted by a typical galaxy.

New pictures of huge Mars crater emerge

Ever wanted to see what the surface of Mars looks like? Well now you can as Nasa releases some very clear colour images of a never-before-explored crater on the surface of the rocky planet.

The Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity arrived at the west rim of the Endeavour crater on Wednesday after a 13-mile journey which took three years.

Scientists have said that the crater is 14 miles in diameter and more than 25 times wider than anything that the golf-buggy-sized robot has previously explored since it touched down on Mars in 2004.

According to Nasa, the Endeavour crater offers access to older geological deposits than any Opportunity has seen before, and such research may be a clue as to whether there have ever been habitable conditions on the planet.

This is the real view of the portion of the crater and looks just like a dry desert on Earth.

This is the same photo presented in false colour to emphasize the differences among materials in the rocks and the soils.

The crater was picked after the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter observed clay minerals at the site from its orbit, and experts believe the discovery may indicate evidence of a warmer, wetter history on the planet.

Matthew Golombek, a Mars Exploration Rover science team member at Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory explained what the exploration of Endeavour means. He said: “We're soon going to get the opportunity to sample a rock type the rovers haven't seen yet. Clay minerals form in wet conditions so we may learn about a potentially habitable environment that appears to have been very different from those responsible for the rocks comprising the plains.”

It is said that Endeavour is likely to be the last crater explored by the rover.

Video Released Of Riot Cops Being Run Over

Dramatic CCTV footage of two police officers being knocked down by a car as they chased looters during last week's riots has been released.

The pair were hit by a green Citroen travelling at high speed in Waltham Forest, north east London - and one was struck so hard that his body armour came off.

Detectives investigating the attempted murder of the policemen said the footage has been released to encourage people to come forward and identify those responsible.

The officers were hit as they responded to reports of a group looting a clothing store at around 1am on August 8.

One of the policemen suffered knee and leg injuries and the other sustained shoulder injuries.

They were both taken to hospital and are recovering at home while they wait for further specialist treatment.

Police said the Citroen was driven at the constables in Royston Avenue as they tried to deal with reports of looting at the Aristocrats clothing store on Chingford Mount Road.

After the incident, the car - with the registration number Y132 GHJ - turned right on to Chingford Mount Road and right again on to New Road before it was lost.

Police said the unknown number of occupants have still not been identified and officers are trying to trace them.

Detective Inspector Cliff Haines said: "We are treating this as attempted murder.

"These individuals clearly had no regard for the safety of the officers or anyone else in their path.

"Judging from the footage and the speed at which this car is being driven, I can only assume that the intention was to cause serious harm and injury.

"It is only sheer luck the officers did not sustain more serious injuries."

He urged anyone with any information that could identify the people in the car to contact the Operation Withern incident room on 020 8345 4142 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 .

:: The total number of people charged in relation to disorder and looting in London now stands at 940, with a total of 1,635 arrests, the Metropolitan Police has said.

The new figures have been released as Scotland Yard said extra officers would continue to police the streets.

Scooter Rider Attacked By London Rioters

Video has been released of a scooter driver being dragged from his vehicle before it is stolen by rioters in Croydon.

The footage shows the rider trying to make his way along the road through the gathering crowd.

He is then set upon by a gang of around six people.

One drags him by the head from his scooter to the floor.

An accomplice then drags the victim away from his vehicle before a third man rides the scooter away.

The thief is then shown just a few metres down the road after falling off the scooter.

He jumps back on and drives it in the opposite direction and back into the crowd.

The incident happened during the disturbances on August 8, the night in which rioters caused widespread damage to the area, including setting fire to a furniture store.
